OceanMind is an independent insurance broker registered in South Africa. We are a Responsible Party under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and we take your privacy seriously. Through this website, when you contact us or request a quote, we collect your name, email address, phone number, the type of insurance you're enquiring about, and any details you choose to share about your needs. When we act as your broker, we may also collect and hold further information needed to arrange and service your cover — including your identity number, financial information, and, for certain lines such as life or health cover, medical information. We collect this directly from you and limit it to what the service requires.
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, prepare quotes, arrange and administer insurance cover on your behalf, handle claims, keep you informed about your policies, and meet our legal and regulatory obligations under FAIS and other applicable law. We will never sell your information to third parties.
To arrange and service your cover, we share relevant details with the insurers we approach on your behalf, and with the third parties who help us operate — such as our IT, hosting, and communication providers. We require everyone we share your information with to protect it and to process it only in line with POPIA. We do not share your information for marketing purposes without your explicit consent.
Your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on secure systems with access controls. Some of the providers we use to run this website and our systems — including hosting, error monitoring, and form handling — process information on servers located outside South Africa; where personal information is transferred abroad, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives protection consistent with POPIA. We retain your information only as long as necessary to serve you or meet legal requirements (typically 5 years post-policy for regulatory purposes).
Under POPIA, you have the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you • Request corrections to inaccurate information • Request deletion of your information (subject to legal retention requirements) • Object to processing for direct marketing To exercise any of these rights, contact our Information Officer at info@oceanmind.co.za.
